Winning students from Leihoku Elementary<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Waiʻanae<\/span> schools competed in the First LegoLeague Robotics Tournament on November 12. University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa Student Equity Excellence and Diversity<\/a>’s Waiʻanae<\/span> Program for Afterschool Literacy Support<\/a> hosted the event.<\/p>\n

Leihoku Elementary emerged as the district champs and will represent Waiʻanae<\/span> in the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> state championship. Waiʻanae<\/span> Elementary came in second place and also earned a spot at state.<\/p>\n

This is the first year the UH<\/abbr> Mānoa after school program has teamed with First LegoLeague. Competition is open to students age 9–14 and is designed to get students excited about science and technology. <\/p>\n

Waiʻanae<\/span> Program for Afterschool Literacy Support<\/h2>\n

PALS<\/abbr> engages students in project-based learning grounded in issues relevant to their community. It operates in elementary schools along the Waiʻanae<\/span> Coast. The program’s project objectives also include providing training on place-based curriculum, improving teaching skills for participating tutors and fostering strong school and community partnerships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
