In addition, student employment opportunities will be available to help students gain valuable work experience while earning their degrees.<\/p>\n<h2>Help make it happen<\/h2>\n<p>To make this opportunity available in the fall, <a href=\"https:\/\/giving.uhfoundation.org\/funds\/13034804\"><span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> <abbr title=\"Community College\">CC<\/abbr> needs to raise $250,000 by March 1<\/a>. Donations made after the deadline will help sustain the program for future students.<\/p>\n<p>Local business Deja Vu Surf Hawai\u2018i has stepped up with a $20,000 donation, reinforcing the community\u2019s role in supporting educational attainment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <span aria-label=\"Hoolei\">Ho&#699;olei<\/span> Scholarship provides a unique opportunity for students to obtain both a college education and on-campus employment,\u201d DeJa Vu Surf owner Tad Miura said. \u201cDeja Vu Surf Hawai\u02bbi is excited to be a part of it and support Chancellor [Margaret] Sanchez&#8217;s vision for <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span>. We are grateful for the community&#8217;s support, and our gift to the <span aria-label=\"Hoolei\">Ho&#699;olei<\/span> Scholarship fund is one of gratitude and embracing kuleana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanchez said the scholarship fund enables the community to support the future of the Garden Island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so excited to help more of our local high school students realize that they can go to college,\u201d Sanchez said. \u201cI am so grateful for the support of our college\u2019s mission from the community. Thank you, Deja Vu Surf!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By increasing college access, the <span aria-label=\"Hoolei\">Ho&#699;olei<\/span> Scholarship creates opportunities that lead to higher wages, better job prospects and a stronger local workforce.
