The first <abbr>BOR<\/abbr> meeting of 2025 was held at <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> on January 16.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hensel-bor-2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Wendy Hensel\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-209411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hensel-bor-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hensel-bor-2-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hensel-bor-2.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>President Hensel reflected on her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2025\/01\/14\/uh-west-oahu-president-campus-tour\/\">visit to the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> campus<\/a> two days earlier, which marked the beginning of her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2025\/01\/06\/president-hensel-campus-visits-planned\/\">statewide tour of <abbr>UH<\/abbr> campuses and education centers<\/a> planned for her first 90 days in office. She also outlined her collaborative approach to working with state lawmakers as the legislative session kicked off on January 15.<\/p>\n<p>Hensel began her presentation by expressing gratitude to those who have supported her transition to leading <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s 10-campus public higher education system.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;While I have only been in my role officially for a short time, I have been working with the Board and the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> leadership team for several months to be as prepared as possible on my very first day,&rdquo; said Hensel &ldquo;I want to express my thanks to all of you, with a special mahalo to President Lassner, for your time and support during this transition.
