Alongside these upgrades, the college announced a robust slate of courses for spring 2025, designed to make education more accessible to the North <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> community.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_209080\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-209080\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hawaii-ko-education-center-kitchen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hawaii-ko-education-center-kitchen-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"kitchen \" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-209080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hawaii-ko-education-center-kitchen-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hawaii-ko-education-center-kitchen-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/hawaii-ko-education-center-kitchen.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-209080\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Upgraded kitchen at the K&#333; Education Center<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The $4-million renovations include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Two New Classrooms:<\/strong> Supporting general education and specialized courses, including health programs for nursing education.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Certified Science Lab:<\/strong> With Biosafety Level 1 certification, this lab will host biology, chemistry and microbiology courses, opening new opportunities for STEM students.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Instructional Kitchen:<\/strong> While not yet certified for food sales, the kitchen will support culinary instruction, including a planned butchery course\u2014the first of its kind in the state.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;We\u2019re excited to bring these resources to North <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>,&rdquo; said Pele Kaio, assistant professor and contact for K&#333; Education Center. &ldquo;This is more than an upgrade\u2014it\u2019s a commitment to our students and the broader community. The new facilities will empower students, support local organizations, and enhance educational accessibility.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The first day of instruction for the spring semester is January 13, 2025. The last day to add or late-register for semester-length courses is January 21.
