Richardson School of Law<\/a> to honor Avi Soifer.<\/p>\n<p>The subject of the lecture will generally be: <em>Should we Americans still revere the law, and if so, how can that reverence be made justifiable and effective?<\/em> The talk will connect to Abraham Lincoln&#8217;s Lyceum Address.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_209019\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-209019\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/manoa-law-hundt-gift-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"two people at the beach\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-209019\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/manoa-law-hundt-gift-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/manoa-law-hundt-gift-130x130.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/manoa-law-hundt-gift.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-209019\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reed Hundt and his wife Betsy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Soifer, a prolific constitutional law scholar, taught while serving as the law school dean from 2003-2020 and continued to teach until he retired last summer. He and Reed E. Hundt, president of The Hundt Family Foundation Inc., were classmates and friends at Yale College and Yale Law School.<\/p>\n<p>Hundt is the co-founder, <abbr title=\"chief executive officer\">CEO<\/abbr> and former chairman of the Coalition for Green Capital, a nonprofit that directly supports investment in clean power platforms. Previously he founded and led Making Every Vote Count, a nonprofit seeking national election reform, and served on numerous private and non-profit boards of directors.
