For Jillian Marc Jefry Felipe, the path to success at Ernst & Young (EY<\/abbr>) began well before graduation from the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa’s Shidler College of Business<\/a>. Felipe, who graduated in spring 2024 with a bachelor of business administration in accounting and finance, now works as an assurance staff member in EY<\/abbr>‘s Financial Services Office. He credits the college\u2019s comprehensive approach to career development for his seamless transition into the workforce.<\/p>\n

“The Shidler College of Business has provided me with all the tools to grow and achieve the goals that I have set for myself in my personal and professional career,” Felipe said. “What I found to be most valuable was all the resources that Shidler makes available to its students.”<\/p>\n

Eva Asiskovich, a spring 2024 graduate with a bachelor of business administration in finance, accounting and management information systems, is a financial analyst at Amazon. She said the Shidler College of Business helped her attain the knowledge, skills and credentials she needed to be successful in her current role.<\/p>\n

“Attending UH<\/abbr> has been pivotal to my success,” Asiskovich said. “It enabled me with the necessary tools to pursue and find opportunities.”<\/p>\n

Their experiences reflect a broader pattern of success at Shidler. According to 2022—24 college data, 91% of recent alumni with a bachelor\u2019s of business administration degree secured employment within three months of graduating, with 89% placed in their desired industries—out of 1,681 bachelor of business administration graduates from the same time frame. The college also facilitates more than 400 student internships annually.<\/p>\n

“These outcomes reflect our commitment to not just educating students, but preparing them to be leaders in their fields,” Shidler College of Business Dean Vance Roley said. “Our focus on combining rigorous academics with practical experience and professional development continues to yield exceptional results for our graduates in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s business community and beyond.”<\/p>\n

Maxen Donate, a spring 2024 graduate with a bachelor of business administration in management information systems and marketing, is an associate IT<\/abbr> analyst for the safety and security department at Hawaiian Airlines.<\/p>\n

“The Shidler College of Business provided me with a strong foundation for my career through its challenging yet rewarding curriculum,” Donate said. “Shidler’s emphasis on networking and real-world applications, combined with a supportive community, truly set me up for success.”<\/p>\n

Significant enrollment growth<\/h2>\n

The success extends beyond job placement. Over the past five years, the college has seen significant enrollment growth across multiple programs. Exploratory business enrollment surged by 75%, while information technology management saw a 40% increase. The accounting and travel industry management programs grew by 20% and 10%, respectively. This comes as data from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center<\/a> shows that enrollment by college freshmen has dropped by 5% nationwide in fall 2024.<\/p>\n

College resources key to success<\/h2>\n

Eleanor Hastings, who graduated in fall 2024 with a degree from the School of Travel Industry Management<\/a> (TIM<\/abbr>) in the Shidler College of Business exemplifies how the college\u2019s resources can shape career trajectories. Now working as an event marketing coordinator at Lumen Technologies, Hastings secured both her internships—including the one that led to her current position—through Shidler\u2019s career resources. She particularly credits the support she received from KOKUA Program, professors and advisors, enabling her to graduate on time and secure her current position.<\/p>\n

“UH<\/abbr> was where I found my home during my college years,” Hastings said. “It was here that I learned how to be a working professional because of the strong relationships I made with my peers, professors and alumni.”<\/p>\n

Johnson Nguyen, another fall 2024 TIM<\/abbr> graduate, represents another success story in progress. Though currently between positions, Nguyen has already secured a spot in a management in training program starting in June.<\/p>\n

“UH<\/abbr>, to me, means opportunity. It\u2019s just up to you if you want to take on the challenge and overcome obstacles to achieve great heights,” Nguyen said.<\/p>\n
