Held at the <abbr>WCCC<\/abbr> Maunawili Cottage courtyard, the event also recognized three women who earned their general education diplomas (<abbr>GED<\/abbr>) through the McKinley Community School for Adults &#8212; Moanalua Campus. More than 30 family members, loved ones and supporters attended the celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Klarissa Lopez, one of two student speakers from the Culinary Arts Program, said, &ldquo;It not only betters us with education but it betters us as individuals.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The event also featured a luncheon of dishes and desserts prepared by the culinary graduates, showcasing their mastery of fundamental culinary skills, safety and sanitation practices.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kcc-culinary-arts-food-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"luncheon of dishes made by the culinary graduates\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-208125\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kcc-culinary-arts-food-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kcc-culinary-arts-food-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kcc-culinary-arts-food.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The menu included:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mushroom duxelle<\/li>\n<li>Blistered tomato and creamy mac nut pesto <\/li>\n<li>Roasted seafood sensation<\/li>\n<li>Pimento cheese and bacon jam<\/li>\n<li>Pressed kalua pork street tacos<\/li>\n<li>Spicy buffalo chicken pizza<\/li>\n<li>Miso chicken beurre blanc pizza <\/li>\n<li>Grilled chimichurri chicken <\/li>\n<li>Beef moussaka<\/li>\n<li>Banana foster bread pudding<\/li>\n<li>Lilikoi chiffon tarts<\/li>\n<li>Hokkaido raspberry cupcakes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Foundation for the future<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kcc-culinary-arts-3-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"culinary arts student serving attendees\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-208124\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kcc-culinary-arts-3-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kcc-culinary-arts-3-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/kcc-culinary-arts-3.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the certificates earned through the Culinary Arts Program, the graduates now hold a foundation to pursue further education or careers in the food service industry, opening new doors of opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;When these women leave here, we hope the right path feels clear and natural, guiding them toward brighter futures.
