The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa women’s volleyball team’s season came to an end on December 5, with a 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 loss to Texas Christian University (TCU<\/abbr>) in the first round of the NCAA<\/abbr> Tournament at Mathew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.<\/p>\n

The Big West champion Rainbow Wahine (21-10) battled all match but were unable to find their groove offensively, hitting just .171 for the match. UH<\/abbr> was led by Caylen Alexander’s nine kills. Alexander finished her historic junior campaign with 611 total kills.<\/p>\n

Seniors Kate Lang and Tayli Ikenaga concluded their stellar careers. Lang posted her 51st career double-double, dishing out 27 assists and coming up with 12 digs while also finishing off four kills of her own. Lang, who was the primary starting setter all four years of her UH<\/abbr> career, finished with 4,544 total assists to rank third in the UH<\/abbr> record books.<\/p>\n

Ikenaga, was also a primary starter at libero all four years of her career, popped up a match-high 16 digs to bring her career total to 1,368 digs. She closed her career fifth in the UH<\/abbr> record book in total digs.<\/p>\n

The Rainbow Wahine finish the year as Big West champions for the fifth consecutive season after winning their second-straight Big West Championship last week.<\/p>\n
