A statewide honor for excellence in the field of human resources (HR<\/abbr>) has been awarded to Kapiʻolani<\/span> Community College<\/a> HR<\/abbr> Specialist Hunter Kirihara. The Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM<\/abbr>)<\/a> Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> HR<\/abbr> Emerging Professional Award acknowledges a member of SHRM<\/abbr> Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> who exemplifies the best of the profession\u2019s values and achievements through specific accomplishments.<\/p>\n

With just 2.5 years in the field of HR<\/abbr>, Kirihara has made significant contributions in improving HR<\/abbr> processes at Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr>. As the deputy Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO<\/abbr>) officer and deputy American Disabilities Act (ADA<\/abbr>) officer, he transformed the ADA<\/abbr> accommodation process, creating a more efficient system that ensures timely support for employees.<\/p>\n

“Hunter\u2019s dedication to accessibility and fairness has made the processes at Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr> very efficient and organized.” said Darsh Dav\u00e9, Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr> HR<\/abbr> manager and EEO<\/abbr> officer. “His leadership, expertise and readiness to meet complex HR<\/abbr> challenges, exemplifies the SHRM<\/abbr> values of lokahi (unity), kinaʻole<\/span> (excellence), and kuleana (responsibility).”<\/p>\n

Kirihara was presented the award at the SHRM<\/abbr> Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> State Conference in early October 2024, and also received a $500 scholarship.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s an honor to be recognized by SHRM<\/abbr> Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> among so many outstanding leaders in the HR<\/abbr> profession.” said Kirihara. “At Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr>, I\u2019ve had the privilege to collaborate with dedicated colleagues and supportive leaders who share a passion for fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.”<\/p>\n

Kirihara represents a new generation of HR<\/abbr> professionals who are shaping the future of the workplace in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>. He recently completed his SHRM<\/abbr> Certified Professional certification and has led important initiatives, including development and delivery of training programs on unconscious bias, emotional intelligence, disability etiquette, and conflict resolution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
