A completed makeover to the A Tower auditorium at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa Shidler College of Business<\/a> was celebrated with a blessing ceremony on October 21. Enhancements were made possible by a $1-million gift from the late distinguished alumna and 1972 accounting graduate Carolyn L. Ching. After her 2018 gift, the auditorium was renamed the Carolyn L. Ching Auditorium in her honor.<\/p>\n

Upgrades included a full interior renovation of the 2,170-square-foot space, to refresh all interior finishes, auditorium seating, acoustics, lighting and more. The thoughtful design includes shades of blue with natural wood accents, recessed linear down lights and directional up-lights to create sleek lines, 3-dimensional acoustical wall paneling, as well as sustainable finishes, such as recyclable resilient carpet, LED<\/abbr> lighting and paint low in volatile organic compounds.<\/p>\n

“Carolyn\u2019s generosity has transformed the auditorium into a vibrant gathering space for students, faculty and staff,” said Vance Roley, dean of the Shidler College of Business. “Her support not only modernizes the learning environment but also enhances the overall experience, ensuring future generations have the resources they need to succeed.”<\/p>\n

Ching enjoyed a successful career that began at Arthur Young, now Ernst & Young, where she rose to the position of principal. She later co-founded Hee and Ching CPA<\/abbr>s, LLC<\/abbr>. Ching credited the Shidler College of Business with providing the foundation for her success in the field of accounting. Through her gift, she hoped to inspire and support future generations of students to pursue their own aspirations.<\/p>\n

In addition, Ching established the Carolyn L. Ching Endowed Scholarship, which provides financial support to promising business students at the Shidler College of Business, who demonstrate financial need.<\/p>\n
