This week\u2019s UH<\/abbr> News<\/em> Image of the Week is UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Â鶹´«Ã½nuiākea<\/span> Dean John Osorio performing the N\u0101 H\u014dk\u016b Hanohano Award winning song “Hawaiian Soul” with Brother Noland and Paul Buckley on Wednesday, October 2 at the Hawaiian Executive Conference held annually on Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Island. Released in 1977, “Hawaiian Soul” was written and performed by Osorio and Randy Borden as part of the musical duo Jon and Randy. Osorio told the audience of the state\u2019s business and political leaders that they wrote the song the day the Coast Guard called off the search for George Helm and Kimo Mitchell, who disappeared while attempting to paddle their surfboards from Maui to Kahoʻolawe<\/span> as part of the Protect Kahoʻolawe<\/span> movement.<\/p>\n
