The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa band program<\/a> celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023–24 by exceeding its fundraising and performance goals.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> Bands set out to raise $100,000 and complete at least 100 performances during their centennial year. They surpassed both objectives, raising over $100,000, capped off by a 100th anniversary gala<\/a> in April 2024; and performing more than 110 times, which included marching and concert band performances, neighbor island tours and a 150-saxophone world record attempt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The funds will be used to purchase much-needed instruments and repair equipment, as well as other items for the program.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to everyone who donated to our 100th anniversary fund. Because of your generosity, we achieved our goal for our students,” said Gwen Nakamura, UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa assistant director of bands. “It was amazing and heartwarming to see so many alumni from so many years come back to celebrate 100 years.”<\/p>\n
