The list was announced on August 27.<\/p>\n<p>The ranking is based on surveys completed by 168,000 students nationwide. The criteria include categories covering academics, amenities, campus services, extracurriculars and more. The schools included in &ldquo;Best 390 Colleges for 2025&rdquo; are not ranked from <abbr title=\"Number\">No<\/abbr>. 1&#8211;<abbr>No<\/abbr>. 389, and feature the <a href=\"https:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/programs\/digest\/d23\/tables\/dt23_317.10.asp?current=yes\">top 15&#37; of four-year colleges in the U.S.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition, <em>The Princeton Review<\/em> placed <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa as one of the top 79 colleges in the west, and one of the top 522 &ldquo;green&rdquo; colleges, which recognizes the most environmentally responsible schools.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are honored to be recognized among the nation\u2019s best colleges, a testament to the dedication of our faculty, staff and students,&rdquo; <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Provost Michael Bruno said. &ldquo;These rankings reflect our commitment to providing a world-class education while fostering a vibrant, inclusive campus community that prepares students for success in an ever-changing world.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The colleges we profile in our book are truly a select group: they constitute about 15&#37; of America\u2019s four-year institutions. We chose them primarily based on our high opinion of their academic offerings,&rdquo; said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of <em>The Princeton Review<\/em> and author of The Best 390 Colleges. &ldquo;The colleges that make our book\u2019s ranking lists do so entirely as a result of the opinions of their customers&#8212;students attending the colleges&#8212;who complete our 89-question survey about their school.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Student comments reported by <em>The Princeton Review<\/em><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>&ldquo;When someone goes to <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, they aren\u2019t expecting to receive an education grounded in a Native Hawaiian place of learning but that is exactly what they get.
