More than 450 University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> alumni and community members gathered at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in August to connect and celebrate the impact alumni have on our state and beyond. The third annual UH<\/abbr> Alumni Association\u2019s Makers\u02bb Market showcased alumni entrepreneurs and their food and products.<\/p>\n

“I just love this event. It shows the incredible creativity and entrepreneurialism of our graduates,” said President David Lassner (PhD<\/abbr> \u201898, UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa). “Some of them are fresh out of school and some are decades out, but they’ve all figured out something that they have a passion for and they want to share with others in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and beyond.”<\/p>\n

More than 40 alumni-owned or operated businesses shared their entrepreneurial spirits through a diverse array of food, drinks and products.<\/p>\n

“I love participating and supporting all the different UH<\/abbr> alumni small businesses,” said Erin Minaya (BS<\/abbr> \u201814, UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa), of Ports + Paws. “It\u2019s always really good energy and we have so much fun.“<\/p>\n

“We participated in Makers\u2019 Market because we just really love to support and give back as best we can to UH<\/abbr> and UH<\/abbr> alumni,” said Nick Wong (COA<\/abbr> \u201813, Kapiʻolani<\/span> Community College), of Beer Lab Hawaii.<\/p>\n

Makers\u2019 Market also aims to encourage and inspire future UH<\/abbr> graduates to follow their entrepreneurial dreams. It\u2019s one of many UH<\/abbr> Office of Alumni Relations<\/a> initiatives.<\/p>\n

“I’m proud of what they\u02bbve all accomplished and I’m also really happy that they’ve chosen to spend their evening supporting UH<\/abbr> and other alumni,” Lassner said. “We\u02bbre also incredibly grateful to the many sponsors in the community and other alumni who support our Makers\u2019 Market and the work UH<\/abbr> alumni do every day to diversify Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s economy.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
