The director will play a critical role in shaping the future of healthcare through innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to addressing health disparities.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The director will be responsible for coordinating efforts across the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> units that include programs related to health sciences and medicine:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"blocklink\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2023\/05\/23\/health-sciences-initiative\/\">Collaboration across health sciences goal of <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa initiative<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>College of Natural Sciences<\/li>\n<li>College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources<\/li>\n<li>College of Education<\/li>\n<li>College of Engineering<\/li>\n<li>College of Social Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy<\/li>\n<li>John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/li>\n<li>School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene<\/li>\n<li>School of Ocean and Earth Sciences and Technology<\/li>\n<li>Thompson School of Social Work &#38; Public Health<\/li>\n<li><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Cancer Center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa offers more than 50 health sciences-related degrees and certificates across nine colleges and schools, as well as the state&#8217;s largest social work, nursing and public health programs. In fiscal year 2022 alone, <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa secured more than $130 million in external grants and contracts related to health sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Ortega, dean of the Thompson School of Social Work &#38; Public Health, is chairing the search advisory committee, whose members consist of steering committee members who led the development of the Health Sciences Institute.
