To secure a spot in nationals, the student team won the 2024 district competition held on April 27. The <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> team&#8212;consisting of Shidler students Madison Chow, Kaycee Nakashima, Wendy Sakuma, Ocean Vuong and Jolin Zhang&#8212;joined 17 university teams out of more than 120 entrants to vie for the national title.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/manoa-shidler-national-ad-competition-presenting-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"people standing presenting in front of a screen\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-197649\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/manoa-shidler-national-ad-competition-presenting-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/manoa-shidler-national-ad-competition-presenting-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/manoa-shidler-national-ad-competition-presenting.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Teams were tasked to create an advertising campaign for Tide, which included market research, identifying target markets and consumer personas, and utilizing multi-channel marketing to change 75&#37; of consumer&#8217;s washing habits to cold by 2030. The <abbr>UH<\/abbr> team\u2019s campaign was called &ldquo;Turn the Tide,&rdquo; and aimed to &ldquo;create a revolution in shifting the behavior of consumers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While the team did not advance from the semifinal round to the finals, they celebrated their hard work and position as a formidable force in advertising education.
