Stewarded by The Wellbeing Project and Georgetown University, the inaugural fellowship aims to build a global community dedicated to ecological belonging. The <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa fellows collaborate in a global community with students from Georgetown University, University of Ljubljana-Slovenia and Facens University Centre-Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The approach this fellowship has taken emphasizes the unique experiences of a variety of voices, discussing our connections, while enhancing academic perspectives and our understanding of the world,&rdquo; said undergraduate Alex Williamson, a <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa fellow majoring in Women\u2019s studies. &ldquo;The principle of intersectionality is vital in achieving a unified global community, as well as essential when focusing on ecological wellbeing.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa fellows<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span aria-label=\"Aalii\">&#699;A&#699;ali&#699;i<\/span> Kelling, marine science; graduate<\/li>\n<li>Alex Williamson, women\u2019s studies; undergraduate<\/li>\n<li>Aura Diaz-Monroy, English; graduate<\/li>\n<li>Charlotte Head, sociology; undergraduate<\/li>\n<li>Keaupuni Davis, sociology; graduate<\/li>\n<li>Makena Gallagher, sociology, psychology; <abbr title=\"bachelor of arts\">BA<\/abbr> and minor<\/li>\n<li>Margie Walkover, sociology; doctoral<\/li>\n<li>Pomai Kauahi-Daniels, tropical agriculture; undergraduate<\/li>\n<li>Quinn Goo, psychology, educational psychology; undergraduate and graduate<\/li>\n<li>Stryder Wiliams, biology; undergraduate<\/li>\n<li>Talofa <span aria-label=\"Fea\">Fe&#699;a<\/span>, natural resource management; undergraduate<\/li>\n<li>Ululani Russo Oana, curriculum studies and instruction; <abbr title=\"doctor of philosophy\">PhD<\/abbr><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Embodying ecological belonging<\/h2>\n<p>The program\u2019s first phase recently concluded and focused on understanding ecological belonging in different cultural and geographical contexts. The sessions aimed to explore the ways in which humans connect with their environment, physically and spiritually.<\/p>\n<p>Fellows were tasked with developing rituals and practices to embody ecological belonging. These practices focused on elements such as ancestral memory, interconnectedness, and the material elements that make up a local ecosystem.
