Na H\u014dk\u016b Hanohano Award-winning Na Leo Pilimehana<\/a> will perform in a concert at Windward Community College\u2019s Palik\u016b Theatre<\/a> on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. The concert celebrates the female group\u2019s 40th anniversary together and will also include music by Windward CC<\/abbr> Assistant Professor of Music Kamuela Kimokeo and his 14 year-old son Kaʻihi<\/span>. Proceeds will go to the Kanileʻa<\/span> ʻUkulele<\/span> Hawaiian Music Scholarship<\/a> supporting music students at Windward CC<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

“Na Leo celebrating 40 years of music at WCC<\/abbr> is going to be fantastic! We will have multiple generations coming together on stage to ensure that future generations have the opportunity to learn, perform, and create Hawaiian music because of this scholarship!” said Kimokeo.<\/p>\n

In 1984, Na Leo won the Brown Bags to Stardom contest with the song “Local Boys,” which launched the group\u2019s career. Nalani Jenkins, Lehua Kalima and Angela Morales have written, recorded and performed more than 20 #1 hits and received 23 Na H\u014dk\u016b Hanohano Awards with songs like “I Miss You My Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>” and “Flying with Angels.” They are the biggest selling female Hawaiian band in the world, and continue to perform to sold out crowds in Japan, Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>, and the U.S. continent.<\/p>\n
