Hilo came and gave it our all, and I&#8217;m really grateful our new players had the chance to experience some competition and got to show their skill to the other campuses.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>With more than 20,000 attendees over the three-day event, the success of the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> esports programs were on full display for the Kawaii Kon fans.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span>&#8216;s debut at the Kawaii Kon tournament was a significant step for our club, having been established just two months prior,&rdquo; said Adam Moura, <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr> instructor and esports advisor. &ldquo;It was a great opportunity for growth and learning, and we came away from it inspired to continue developing our skill for future competitions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Keala Chock, Leeward <abbr>CC<\/abbr> vice chancellor for academic affairs, added, &ldquo;For Leeward Community College&#8217;s students to be part of systemwide esports events is not just about competition; it&#8217;s about fostering a sense of community, collaboration, and innovation among our students, shaping them into well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of the future.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Continuing collaboration<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_195023\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-195023\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/system-esports-kawaii-kon-tournament-group-photo-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"large amount of people posing for a group photo\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-195023\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/system-esports-kawaii-kon-tournament-group-photo-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/system-esports-kawaii-kon-tournament-group-photo-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/system-esports-kawaii-kon-tournament-group-photo.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-195023\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Group photo of the participants (Photo credit: Alec Tuason)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While the tournament at Kawaii Kon is the one event each year where <abbr>UH<\/abbr> brings together students from several campuses together to compete, organizers hope to increase the collaboration throughout the year.
