exhibit opened at <span aria-label=\"Imiloa\">&#699;Imiloa<\/span> Astronomy Center engaging learners of all ages to embark on a fascinating journey into the realm of the mahina (Moon), connect with Hawaiian practices, and explore science, technology, engineering, and math or <abbr title=\"science, technology, engineering and mathematics\">STEM<\/abbr>. <em>Kaulana Mahina: Look Up, Look Down, Look All Around!<\/em> will welcome visitors through June 9 at <span aria-label=\"Imiloa\">&#699;Imiloa<\/span>\u2019s Exhibit Hall located on the <a href=\"https:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/\">University of Hawaiian moon calendar.<\/li>\n<li>Operate a 3D model illustrating the Moon\u2019s orbit around the Earth and Sun.<\/li>\n<li>Marvel at <abbr title=\"National Aeronautics and Space Administration\">NASA<\/abbr>\u2019s visualization of the changing Moon phases.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with magnets to understand the gravitational pull between the Earth, Moon and Sun, influencing tides.<\/li>\n<li>Step into the shoes of a fisherman or farmer in an interactive game navigating through the moon phases.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in a discussion to share personal experiences on how game<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;We\u2019re thrilled to be the first location on <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> Island to offer this exciting and newly developed exhibit,&rdquo; said <span aria-label=\"Kaiu\">Ka&#699;iu<\/span> Kimura, executive director of <span aria-label=\"Imiloa\">&#699;Imiloa<\/span>. &ldquo;With spring break right around the corner, and the internationally acclaimed Merrie Monarch Festival happening in Hilo next month, the timing of this exhibit at <span aria-label=\"Imiloa\">&#699;Imiloa<\/span> is perfect for our island <span aria-label=\"ohana\">&#699;ohana<\/span> and visitors to explore the science and cultural perspectives of our kaulana mahina, our Hawaiian moon phases.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Created by the Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture (INPEACE), <em>Kaulana Mahina: Look Up, Look Down, Look All Around!<\/em>, is an interactive science and cultural exhibit that is designed in collaboration with <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/hshk\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaiinuiakea\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½nui&#257;kea<\/span> School of Hawaiian Knowledge<\/a> lecturer Kalei <span aria-label=\"Nuuhiwa\">Nu&#699;uhiwa<\/span> and other kaulana mahina practitioners.
