University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa men\u2019s volleyball<\/a> outside hitter Spyros Chakas was named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA<\/abbr>) Men\u2019s National Collegiate Player of the Week as well as Big West Player of the Week along with setter Tread Rosenthal as Freshman of the Week, respectively, after helping lead the Rainbow Warriors to a pair of victories over No. 5 Stanford.<\/p>\n

Chakas averaged 5.43 kills per set on .550 hitting in the series. He tallied a season-high 23 kills with only one error in 30 attempts in the rematch along with 15 kills, eight digs, and two blocks in the opener. The AVCA<\/abbr> award is Chakas’ second of his career and the Big West award marks his first this season and fourth of his career.<\/p>\n

Rosenthal earned his third freshman award this season after leading the team to a .445 clip in the series. He averaged 10.29 assists per set along with a team-high four aces in the series. He also averaged 1.00 digs and 0.71 blocks per set.<\/p>\n

On the year, Chakas currently ranks No. 3 nationally in both kills per set (4.29) and hitting percentage (.426) while Rosenthal is No. 8 in assists (10.03) and No. 15 in service aces (0.51).<\/p>\n
