Hill<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Leeward <abbr title=\"Community College\">CC<\/abbr> student Betty C. Hill, who lives in <span aria-label=\"Ewa\">&#699;Ewa<\/span>, uses the rail line three times a week in combination with a brief bus ride.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The quickness of getting from Waipahu to Leeward in like five minutes and the reliability of the rail coming every ten minutes has also made me get to campus earlier, perfect for my 9 a.m. class,&rdquo; said Hill.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of Skyline currently takes passengers across nine rail stations between East Kapolei and H&#257;lawa near Aloha Stadium. All Skyline stations, excluding Honouliuli, <span aria-label=\"Hoopili\">Ho&#699;opili<\/span>, and H&#257;laulani, have bus stops and connectivity, providing commuters with convenient options.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Related <em><abbr>UH<\/abbr> News<\/em> story: <a href=\u201chttps:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2023\/06\/29\/uh-skyline-launch\/\u201c><abbr>UH<\/abbr> campuses prepare for Skyline launch<\/a>, June 2023<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Skyline has been a game changer for Tom Hirsbrunner, a Title <abbr title=\"Roman numeral nine\">IX<\/abbr> coordinator at Leeward <abbr>CC<\/abbr>, who hops on at the <span aria-label=\"Keoneae\">Keone&#699;ae<\/span> station near <abbr>UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> four to five times a week.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It is much less stressful riding the rail,&rdquo; said Hirsbrunner. &ldquo;Plus, it saves gas, money and vehicle maintenance on my car. Credit: Honolulu <abbr>DTS<\/abbr><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Skyline fares follow the same structure as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebus.org\/Fare\/FarePassesNew2023.asp\">TheBus<\/a> and require riders to have an active <a href=\"https:\/\/holocard.net\/\">HOLO card<\/a> loaded with funds to board. The cards can be used on the rail and bus. Each first tap will come with transfers, free within the next 2.5 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The university\u2019s <abbr>U<\/abbr>-Pass program offers <abbr>UH<\/abbr> students a pass to ride Skyline or TheBus at a reduced rate. Students with a valid <abbr>UH<\/abbr> identification card can purchase a <abbr>U<\/abbr>-Pass each semester.
