Pofele Ashlock, wide receiver for the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> football team<\/a>, earned a spot on the Freshman All-America team by the Football Writers Association of America. Adding to his honors, the Euless, Texas native was also recently recognized as a second-team Freshman All-American by The Athletic.<\/p>\n

Ashlock stands out as the sole Mountain West freshman among the 32 honorees. In his redshirt freshman season, he led the team with 83 receptions and shared team-high honors with nine touchdowns. Accumulating 832 receiving yards at an average of 10.0 yards per catch, Ashlock ranked third in the Mountain West for receptions per game (6.4) and sixth for receiving yards per game (64.0).<\/p>\n

Ashlock’s achievement marks a significant milestone for UH<\/abbr>, as he becomes their first FWAA<\/abbr> Freshman All-American since Scott Harding in 2011. He is the fifth Rainbow Warrior freshman to receive FWAA<\/abbr> honors, alongside Harding (2011), include: UH<\/abbr> stars Davone Bess (2005), Samson Satele (2003) and Chad Owens (2001).<\/p>\n
