Samuel Shomaker<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa<\/a> has identified three finalists for the position of dean of the <a href=\"http:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\">John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (<abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr>). The finalists are scheduled for in-person visits over a two-day period that include meetings with faculty, staff, students, senior administrators and constituents, and a public presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Campus and community members, as well as the general public, are encouraged to attend the public presentations. Information on time, room location and zoom link will be added to this story no later than the start of the first visit.<\/p>\n<p>The campus visits for the three candidates have been scheduled as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lee Buenconsejo-Lum, <abbr title=\"medical doctor degree\">MD<\/abbr><\/strong>, visiting January 29&#8212;30, 2024<br \/>\nInterim Dean, Barry and Virginia Weinman Endowed Chair, and Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health,<br \/>\nJohn A. Burns School of Medicine<br \/>\nPublic presentation: Tuesday, January 30, 1:30&#8212;2:45 p.m., <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> Library Stacks (webinar link to be posted by January 22)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Melissa Simon, <abbr>MD<\/abbr><\/strong>, visiting February 13&#8212;14, 2024<br \/>\nGeorge H. Gardner Professor of Clinical Gynecology and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine; Founder\/Director of the Center for Health Equity Transformation and Chicago Cancer Health Equity Collaborative; and Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement, Northwestern University Robert H Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center<br \/>\nPublic presentation: Wednesday, February 14, 1:30&#8212;2:45 p.m., <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> Library Stacks (webinar link to be posted by January 22)<\/li>\n<li><strong>T. Samuel Shomaker, <abbr>MD<\/abbr>, <abbr>JD<\/abbr><\/strong>, visiting February 27&#8212;28, 2024<br \/>\nFormer Jean and Thomas McMullen Dean, College of Medicine and Vice President for Clinical Affairs, and Professor of Anesthesiology,<br \/>\nTexas A&#38;M Health Science Center<br \/>\nPublic presentation: Wednesday, February 28, 1:30&#8212;2:45 p.m., <abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> Library Stacks (webinar link to be posted by January 22)\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;The search advisory committee did a superb job in identifying finalists with both impressive, progressive leadership experience and disciplinary knowledge. I express my appreciation to them for their time, hard work and commitment to the search process.
