Students, faculty and staff participated in the annual on-campus flu vaccination clinic.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

More than 130 Kapiʻolani<\/span> Community College<\/a> students, faculty and staff got vaccinated against seasonal influenza at a two-day on-site clinic held in September. The college\u2019s human resources department collaborated with Times Pharmacy to create the on-campus opportunity.<\/p>\n

Nearly half of the 130 participants were students, with many from the college\u2019s health science programs.<\/p>\n

“I love the convenience of the on-campus flu vaccination clinic and its purpose considering my line of work,” said Kyra Talisoa, an emergency medical technician program student. “I don\u2019t have to worry about scheduling an appointment and leaving my classes to get vaccinated.”<\/p>\n

The on-site clinic allowed participants to schedule an appointment in advance with little to no wait upon arrival.<\/p>\n

“I love that I can just come down during my lunch, get my shot, and get back to my office in 10 minutes,” said Li-Anne Delavega, a STEM<\/abbr> staff member. “It takes me such a long time to fit a regular appointment into my schedule, so I’m grateful the HR<\/abbr> department puts these events together.”<\/p>\n

Faculty and staff members acknowledged the importance of taking proactive health measures to minimize the spread of influenza.<\/p>\n

“I am very happy that our campus cares about our wellness and brings the vaccination clinic to us,” said hospitality and tourism faculty member Amy Shiroma. “It makes it super easy to pop over between classes to get my ‘seasonal jab’ and assurances for a healthier flu season.”<\/p>\n

This was the seventh year the college\u2019s human resources department collaborated with Times Pharmacy for an on-campus flu vaccination clinic.<\/p>\n

“Employee wellness is crucial to our commitment to our students, faculty and staff,” said Darsh Dav\u00e9, Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr> human resources manager. “Our responsibility extends beyond the classroom and offices, and providing easy access to preventive healthcare is a testament to our dedication to the well-being of our entire community.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
