The flagship campus of the <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> 10-campus system was selected out of <a href=\"https:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/programs\/digest\/d21\/tables\/dt21_317.10.asp?current=yes\">more than 2,600 four-year colleges and universities in the U.S.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa<\/a> placed <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 160 among <a href=\"https:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/programs\/digest\/d21\/tables\/dt21_317.10.asp?current=yes\">more than 1,500 public institutions in the country<\/a> and <abbr>No<\/abbr>. 330 overall.<\/p>\n<p>The ranking was based on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Student outcomes (70&#37;):<\/strong> Salary impact versus similar colleges (33&#37;), years to pay off net price (17&#37;) and graduation rate versus similar colleges (20&#37;).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Learning environment (20&#37;):<\/strong> Learning opportunities (5&#37;), preparation for career (5&#37;), learning facilities (5&#37;) and recommendation score (5&#37;).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diversity (10&#37;):<\/strong> Opportunities to interact with students from different backgrounds (5&#37;), ethnic diversity (1.5&#37;), inclusion of students with lower family earnings (1.5&#37;), inclusion of students with disabilities (1&#37;) and international diversity (1&#37;).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa ranked highest in diversity, learning facilities and learning opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><em><abbr>WSJ<\/abbr><\/em> rankings were based on the findings of an online survey of 60,953 students and alumni between January and May 2023. In addition, data was collected from the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Census Bureau. The <em><abbr>WSJ<\/abbr><\/em>\/College Pulse 2024 Best Colleges in the U.S. ranking was developed and executed in collaboration with College Pulse and Statista.<\/p>\n<p>The <em><abbr>WSJ<\/abbr><\/em> ranking does not consider research excellence in its methodology. <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa is internationally recognized for its research and is one of just 146 R1: Research Universities.
