Hawaiian Airlines’ IT<\/abbr> team met with UH<\/abbr> students from the IT<\/abbr>\/Cyber Leap Start Experience Excelerator Program.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span><\/a>‘s four-year campuses received a $100,000 grant from Hawaiian Airlines to establish a scholarship for students studying information technology, computer science, cybersecurity and other related computer technology programs.<\/p>\n

The Hawaiian Airlines Information Technology Endowed Scholarship is the first UH<\/abbr> scholarship established by the Honolulu-based airline.<\/p>\n

The new scholarship will help students build IT<\/abbr> careers in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> and beyond. It\u2019s available to students pursuing a degree in programs including information technology from the Shidler College of Business<\/a> at UH<\/abbr> Mānoa, computer science degrees at UH<\/abbr> Mānoa<\/a> and UH<\/abbr> Hilo<\/a>, and cybersecurity at UH<\/abbr> West Oʻahu<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Our kuleana includes cultivating talent from within the communities we serve—especially our Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> home,” said John Jacobi, Hawaiian Airlines senior vice president and chief information officer. “We are proud to expand on our existing partnerships to provide even more opportunities for students to navigate pathways toward success.”<\/p>\n

Hawaiian Airlines is a longtime supporter of other UH<\/abbr> programs including athletics and the Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship Program<\/a> at Honolulu Community College.<\/p>\n

Hawaiian Airlines is also one of the local employers participating<\/a> in UH<\/abbr> Mānoa\u2019s IT<\/abbr>\/Cyber Leap Start Experience Excelerator Program, training participants to enter the IT<\/abbr> sector by providing real-world professional experience for UH<\/abbr> students approaching graduation and for recent UH<\/abbr> graduates seeking work experience.<\/p>\n
