Incoming University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa<\/a> women’s tennis<\/a> freshman Nelly Knezkova recently was selected to represent the Czech Republic in the upcoming International University Sports Federation (FISU<\/abbr>) World University Games in Chengdu, China. The two-week international event will open on July 28 and run through August 8.<\/p>\n

Knezkova is one of four players selected to the Czech National Team. This is the first FISU<\/abbr> World University Games since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 12-day event includes 15 sports. Tennis is one of the oldest in the FISU<\/abbr> sports program, and has been in every University Games since 1959.<\/p>\n

Knezkova hails from Prague, Czech Republic and has extensive international experience representing the Czech Republic on their U<\/abbr>12, U<\/abbr>14 and U<\/abbr>16 teams. In singles, she won the Czech championship and was a runner up once. Knezkova has won tournaments in Croatia, France, Spain, Belgium, Hungary and Poland and competed in the International Tennis Federation in Sweden and Romania.<\/p>\n
