One of this year\u2019s themes is \u201cOne World, Many Voices,\u201d which highlights the preservation of indigenous languages.<\/p>\n<p>The Smithsonian Folklife Festival invited <abbr>UH<\/abbr> back this year to share how the university helped stop the demise of the Hawaiian language. Students, faculty and staff from <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/hawaii.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai\u02bbi<\/span> Community College<\/a> are sharing how language embodies culture, history, values and world views for centuries and into modern times.
