The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Board of Regents (BOR<\/abbr>) honored Regent Randy Moore and Regent Eugene Bal III<\/abbr> in resolutions adopted at a July 6 BOR<\/abbr> meeting. The two regents were recognized for their many years of dedicated service to the university.<\/p>\n

Moore began his tenure with the board as Honolulu County regent in 2013 and served four terms as chair and three terms as vice-chair. He also served on a number of committees, often in leadership roles, including the committees on Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Budget and Finance, Personnel Affairs, Planning and Facilities, Research and Innovation, and University Audits.<\/p>\n

“The Board of Regents is a great group of people,” said Moore after the meeting. “I was impressed with the caliber and quality of the board\u02bbs discussions and decisions, it was a really good experience.”<\/p>\n

Although he is stepping down from the board, Moore continues to support UH<\/abbr> through a $1 million donation<\/a> to create the Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Sustainability Fund for innovative sustainability research and initiatives across all 10 UH<\/abbr> campuses.<\/p>\n

Eugene Bal III<\/abbr><\/h2>\n

Bal has served on the BOR<\/abbr> as Maui County regent since 2013, and during his tenure served two terms as the vice-chair. He has served on a number of committees, often in leadership roles including the committees on Budget and Finance, Community Colleges, as well as Student Affairs, Intercollegiate Athletics, Personnel Affairs, Planning and Facilities, and Research and Innovation.<\/p>\n

“Ten years seems like a long time, but it went incredibly fast,” said Bal after the meeting. “I am very proud of what the board has done in terms of things like selecting the president, all of the decisions with regards to tuition<\/a> and then, most recently, the strategic planning activity<\/a>.”<\/p>\n
