The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa<\/a> is one of the top universities in the world for academic, research and sustainability excellence, according to the 2024 edition of the QS<\/abbr> World University Rankings<\/a> by global higher educational analyst Quacquarelli Symonds.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr>\u2019s flagship campus ranked No<\/abbr>. 66 among U.S. institutions (out of nearly 4,000 colleges and universities in the country<\/a>) and No<\/abbr>. 386 in the world (out of more than 25,000 worldwide colleges and universities<\/a>), according to the rankings released June 27. This places UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa in the top 2% both nationally and globally.<\/p>\n

“As we prepare to welcome our incoming students to the campus this fall, these rankings show that they will receive a world-class education as part of our ʻohana<\/span> of globally-recognized students, faculty and staff,” UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Provost Michael Bruno said. “We are proud of UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa\u2019s consistent performance and high level of achievement in the world\u2019s most respected rankings.”<\/p>\n

For its 20th edition of the world rankings, QS<\/abbr> introduced three new metrics\u2014sustainability (5%), employment outcomes (5%) and international research network (5%), joining its existing criteria of academic reputation (30%), citations per faculty (20%), employer reputation (15%), faculty student ratio (10%), international faculty index (5%) and international student index (5%). According to QS<\/abbr>, these changes reflect the shifts in higher education that have occurred over the past two decades, including the growing importance of sustainability, employability and research collaborations.<\/p>\n

QS<\/abbr> Senior Vice President Ben Sowter said, “The 2024 QS<\/abbr> World University Rankings represents a major step in the evolution of the exercise, marking the most significant innovation in its methodological paradigm since its inception two decades ago. More than ever, it aligns with Gen Z and Alpha priorities, providing institutions with a unique lens through which to assess their performance in areas paramount to shaping a brighter future for generations to come.”<\/p>\n
