From August 2022 to March 2023, there have been nearly 8,000 health room visits to see a school nurse by Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> public school students. On May 10, National School Nurse Day, Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s public school nurses are recognized for their key roles in helping students, schools and families in many ways.<\/p>\n

For nearly a decade, Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn<\/a>, a partnership between the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa Nancy Atmospera-Walch School of Nursing<\/a> and Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Department of Education<\/a> (HIDOE<\/abbr>), has been placing school nurses in public schools to provide no-cost school-based health services to students. Having an in-person presence on campus and seeing the parents and their child face-to-face is critical to getting students the healthcare they need. <\/p>\n
