Of those, 165 are from the <a href=\"https:\/\/uhcc.hawaii.edu\/goodjobshawaii\/\">Good Jobs <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span><\/a> workforce collaborative training initiative with 70% of them focused on healthcare opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Community Colleges, Chamber of Commerce <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> and industry partners launched Good Jobs <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> on January 30, 2023. For the last three months, the Good Jobs <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> coalition has traveled around the state to raise awareness among employers and create opportunities for future jobs.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Employers in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> know they can no longer just be consumers of talent, they must become co-creators of talent,&rdquo; said Keala Peters, Chamber of Commerce <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>. &ldquo;Sector partners are committing time to work alongside their industry colleagues in Sector Partnerships. They are providing work-based learning in our schools, including offering paid internships, and putting real skin in the game to grow their own talent pipeline and connect <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s young people to good jobs and family-sustaining careers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Through the Good Jobs <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> initiative, the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Community Colleges offer free skills training in high-demand industries: healthcare, technology, clean energy\/skilled trades and creative services. Employers from these industries work with the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Community Colleges to identify positions that need to be filled. The seven <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Community College campuses provide the training and support that allow individuals to access pathways to advance into these in-demand jobs.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our goal is to equip residents with the knowledge and skills to access pathways to good jobs that allow them to thrive in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>,&rdquo; said <strong>Daniel Doerger<\/strong>, director of workforce innovation, <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Community Colleges.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_176479\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-176479\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/good-jobs-hawaii-group-300x153.jpg\" alt=\"Large group of smiling people\" width=\"300\" height=\"153\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-176479\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/good-jobs-hawaii-group-300x153.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/good-jobs-hawaii-group-130x66.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/good-jobs-hawaii-group.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-176479\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Good Jobs HI partnership meeting at <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr> in March<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Employers statewide are invited to join the Good Jobs Coalition by signing <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScCI2gtcjzAt05CDhRy_kE_CnFX1-9HXIh2FSNVOq39LOCHzg\/viewform\">the Talent Pledge<\/a> to support Good Jobs\u2019 action steps to develop a skilled, local talent pipeline. Additionally, industry partners in healthcare, technology, skilled trades\/clean energy and creative industries are encouraged to join a <a href=\"https:\/\/uhcc.hawaii.edu\/goodjobshawaii\/employer.php\">Sector Partnership<\/a> to help grow their industries\u2019 talent pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Community Colleges successfully competed for a variety of federal workforce training grants, and Good Jobs <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> is the umbrella initiative that makes it easier for students, employers and community members to understand and access opportunities. By leveraging those various federal, state, county and philanthropic resources, the initiative covers the cost for training and other support for participants.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We hope that high school graduates who are unsure about what higher education route to take will look into the opportunities offered by Good Jobs <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span>,&rdquo; said Doerger. &ldquo;We remind anyone who is looking to start or continue a career path to apply for training in one of these high-demand sectors.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Community Colleges are adding new courses for the summer months with even more planned for fall.
