The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo men’s golf<\/a> team captured the program’s fourth Pacific West Conference team title at the PacWest<\/abbr> championships held April 17–19 in Phoenix, Arizona. Andrew Otani<\/strong> and Junsu Im<\/strong> were also individual co-champions.<\/p>\n

The Vulcans jumped out to a 10-shot lead at the end of day 1 and held strong to finish 15-over with round scores of 285, 294 and 300. Otani and Im both shot 75 in the final round to finish at one-over for a tie atop the individual leaderboard with both staking claim as co-champions.<\/p>\n

“I’m happy with the way the boys played this week,” said UH<\/abbr> Hilo Head Coach Earl Tamiya<\/strong>. “We had the potential all year-long, and they finally put it all together at the end.”<\/p>\n

The Vulcans were coming off of their best performance of the year with a third-place finish at the West Regional Spring Preview last week in Rohnert Park, California, and continued on to win their first conference team title since 2014.<\/p>\n

Otani and Im join the roster of UH<\/abbr> Hilo PacWest<\/abbr> individual champs, which include previous winners Zady Ari<\/strong> (2008), Logan Goulding<\/strong> (2009) and Blake Snyder<\/strong> (2011).<\/p>\n

Keith Ng<\/strong> and Dustin Franko<\/strong> also placed in the top 10 with Nicholas Gomez<\/strong> close behind at No. 20.<\/p>\n

The Vulcans will continue on at the NCAA<\/abbr> West Regional Championships, May 11–13, in Rohnert Park, California.<\/p>\n
