Michelle Kidani. The <abbr>NSA<\/abbr> recognized <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> for its team participation in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsa.gov\/Cybersecurity\/NSA-Cyber-Exercise\/\">National Centers of Academic Excellence <abbr>NSA<\/abbr> Cyber Exercise<\/a> in April 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> Red Team consists of Captain <strong>Anthony Eich<\/strong>, <strong>Casey Kuwada<\/strong>, <strong>Christopher Lopez<\/strong>, <strong>Jonathan Means<\/strong>, <strong>Chad Miura<\/strong>, <strong>Nina Pandya<\/strong>, <strong>Brendon Sarisky<\/strong> and Chapman as coach.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are incredibly honored by the recognition awarded by the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> State Senate,&rdquo; said Chapman. &ldquo;I can\u2019t tell you how much we appreciate Sen. Kidani sponsoring this effort, and the entire Senate for honoring these talented, hard-working students, who will play a big part in protecting our state from cyber threats.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Each year, more than 10,000 students from more than 500 colleges and universities and 100 high schools participate in National Cyber League (<abbr>NCL<\/abbr>) competitions, which test students\u2019 skills in identifying hackers from forensic data, pentesting (penetration testing) and auditing vulnerable websites, recovering from ransomware attacks and more.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> West <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/westoahu.hawaii.edu\/academics\/degrees\/cybersecurity\/\">cybersecurity<\/a> program is currently ranked <a href=\"https:\/\/cyberskyline.com\/data\/power-ranking\/fall-2022-national\">No. 14<\/a> by <abbr>NCL<\/abbr> in overall college power rankings and <a href=\"https:\/\/cyberskyline.com\/data\/power-ranking\/fall-2022-western\">No. 7<\/a> in the Western region.
