Josh Green to fill one Honolulu County seat, one Maui County seat and one <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> County seat for 5-year appointments beginning July 1, 2023, subject to confirmation by the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> State Senate.<\/p>\n<p>The finalists for these seats are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Honolulu County seat<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Neil Abercrombie<\/li>\n<li>Keith Amemiya<\/li>\n<li>Matthew Matsunaga<\/li>\n<li>Mary Oneha<\/li>\n<li><span aria-label=\"Waialeale\">Wai&#699;ale&#699;ale<\/span> Sarsona<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Maui County seat<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lauren Akitake<\/li>\n<li>Sheri Daniels<\/li>\n<li>Beverly Stanich<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> County seat<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Michael Miyahira<\/li>\n<li>Kona Moran<\/li>\n<li>Alapaki Nahale-a<\/li>\n<li>Steven Pavao<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finalist biographies are available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/rcac\">www.hawaii.edu\/rcac<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> Candidate Advisory Council include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brigitte Yoshino, Chair<\/li>\n<li>Lance Wilhelm, Vice Chair<\/li>\n<li>Blair Odo, Secretary<\/li>\n<li>Amy Agbayani, Member<\/li>\n<li>Amy Hennessey, Member<\/li>\n<li>Brandon Marc Higa, Member<\/li>\n<li>Dale Nishikawa, Member<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <abbr>CAC<\/abbr> began accepting applications to fill these vacancies in the fall by contacting and encouraging government, business and community leaders to nominate candidates. The council also placed print advertisements encouraging applications. All applications were thoroughly and comprehensively reviewed and screened by all <abbr>CAC<\/abbr> members.<\/p>\n<p>The Candidate Advisory Committee is statutorily responsible for conducting recruitment efforts, accepting and screening applications, interviewing candidates and submitting to the governor the names of nominees willing to serve as regents of the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> System, which is a voluntary non-compensated public appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Candidate lists are compiled after a comprehensive review and selection process, which is solely and exclusively merit-based and according to procedures set forth in state statutes and the council\u2019s administrative rules.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Candidate Advisory Council members thank all the individuals who applied for these seats on the Board of Regents. We are pleased to submit these names for consideration to the governor,&rdquo; said Chair <strong>Brigitte Yoshino<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Regents is the governing body of <abbr>UH<\/abbr> and consists of 11 members. Representation includes five from the City and County of Honolulu; two from <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> County; two from Maui County; one from <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span> County; and one (1) <abbr>UH<\/abbr> student.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the <abbr>CAC<\/abbr> serve voluntarily and are not paid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Candidate Advisory Council has presented a list of candidates to Gov.
