University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa men\u2019s volleyball<\/a> player Cole Hogland<\/strong> earned his first Big West Defensive Player of the Week award following UH<\/abbr>‘s series sweep of Long Island University on February 22 and 24.<\/p>\n

Hogland, a junior middle blocker, became the fifth Rainbow Warrior this season to earn a conference weekly award and the third to be named Defensive Player of the Week following Brett Sheward<\/strong> (January 16) and Guilherme Voss<\/strong> (February 13).<\/p>\n

Hogland led the team with 13 total blocks in the two-match series, averaging 2.17 blocks per set. He had eight in UH<\/abbr>‘s straight set win in the series opener and followed with five in the rematch. The junior also hit .667 with nine kills in 12 attempts and had a team-leading three aces in the series.<\/p>\n

Hogland currently leads the team with a 1.07 blocks per set average, which ranks No. 10 nationally and No. 4 in the Big West.<\/p>\n

The Rainbow Warriors continue their five-week homestand with a pair of home matches against former conference rival Pepperdine University on March 1 and 2.<\/p>\n
