University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa softball<\/a> players swept the Big West weekly awards with Mya’Liah Bethea<\/strong> earning Player of the Week recognition and rookie Key-Annah Campbell-Pua<\/strong> garnering both Big West Pitcher and Freshman of the Week honors. It was both players’ first time receiving conference weekly awards.<\/p>\n

Bethea helped lead UH<\/abbr> to four wins against just one loss in the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV<\/abbr>) Desert Classic. Bethea blasted three home runs and hit .471 in five games, racking up a team-high eight hits. Four of her hits went for extra bases (one double, three homers) and she was also tied with team highs of seven runs scored and eight RBI<\/abbr>. Her 1.059 slugging percentage was also a team-high. On defense, she was moved from leftfield to first base in the middle of UH<\/abbr>\u2019s opening game and tallied 26 put-outs with no errors. Overall, she has hit .382 through the first two weeks of the season. She leads UH<\/abbr> with six home runs, 13 base hits and is tied for the team lead with 10 runs scored and 13 RBI<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

Campbell-Pua was untouchable against Montana University on February 19, firing a no-hitter while facing the minimum 21 batters. It was UH<\/abbr>‘s first seven inning no-hitter since 2012. Against Montana, Campbell-Pua struck out a career-high six batters with no walks. For the week, Campbell-Pua went 2-0 with wins over UNLV<\/abbr> and Montana. In 13 innings, she tallied a miniscule 0.54 ERA<\/abbr> with nine strikeouts and four walks while holding opponents to a .049 batting average. On February 17, she threw six innings and struck out three in UH<\/abbr>‘s 12-2 win over UNLV<\/abbr>. Overall, she is 3-1 with a 2.24 ERA<\/abbr> with seven walks and 14 strikeouts in 25 innings.<\/p>\n

The Rainbow Wahine return home this week to begin a month-long homestand. Their next game is on February 24 against Marist College to open the Bank of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Invitational.<\/p>\n
