An international engineering firm based in Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> has pledged $200,000 in support of scholarships for engineering students at the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Mānoa.<\/a><\/p>\n

A longtime supporter of the university and UH<\/abbr> Mānoa’s College of Engineering<\/a>, the donor firm SSFM<\/abbr> International, Inc.,<\/a> employs individuals who are eligible for the scholarships as full-time UH<\/abbr> Mānoa undergraduate students in civil and environmental engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Awards from the SSFM<\/abbr> International, Inc., Scholarship Fund will assist students with the costs of attending college, including tuition, books and fees.<\/p>\n

“These scholarships will help students make the most of their time within the college as they prepare to fill positions in key companies like SSFM<\/abbr>,” said College of Engineering Dean Peter Crouch.<\/p>\n

“We are grateful to SSFM<\/abbr> for both the timing and size of the gift,” which will help the college meet state workforce needs, he continued. “Today more than ever, the engineering and construction sectors are critically important in building and renewing the infrastructure in the community.”<\/p>\n

With headquarters in Honolulu and regional offices in China, Manila, Guam and Saipan, SSFM<\/abbr> International, Inc., provides professional engineering resources specializing in program development and project management. It has a long history of supporting UH<\/abbr> and a long-standing partnership with the College of Engineering, with lifetime gifts totaling $493,516.<\/p>\n

“SSFM<\/abbr> understands that scholarships play a key role in making education accessible for many promising future engineers,” said SSFM<\/abbr> President Michael P. Matsumoto. “By partnering with UH<\/abbr>, we can participate in the education of the next generation of engineers for our state.”<\/p>\n
