University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo men\u2019s basketball<\/a> player Nadjrick Peat<\/strong> was named PacWest<\/abbr> Defender of the Week. Peat has won the award before, usually for his rebounding and shot blocking numbers, but he got the nod this time for spearheading the team\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n

The UH<\/abbr> Hilo men\u2019s basketball team won its two final home games of the regular season—a 82-68 win over Holy Names University on February 8 and a 74-65 victory over Fresno Pacific University on February 11—to improve its overall record to 16-5 and 12-4 in the PacWest<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n

“He is our defensive anchor,” UH<\/abbr> Hilo Coach Kaniela Aiona<\/strong> said. “He is the human eraser. For as many blocks as he gets, he changes twice as many shots. Against Fresno for example, he erased two dunks and even took a charge.”<\/p>\n

Peat leads the PacWest<\/abbr> in blocks (2.7 per game) and lists sixth nationally. He also ranks third nationally in dunks made.<\/p>\n

UH<\/abbr> Hilo will head on the road for four games to end its regular season before the PacWest<\/abbr> Championships at Chaminade University\u2019s McCabe Gymnasium in Honolulu, March 2–4.<\/p>\n
