The University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo Division of Student Affairs<\/a> (DSA<\/abbr>) was recognized as one of the “most promising places to work in student affairs“ for 2023 by the American College Personnel Association\u2014College Student Educators International (ACPA<\/abbr><\/a>) and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education<\/em><\/a>. UH<\/abbr> Hilo is among 27 schools recognized nationwide.<\/p>\n

“It is an honor to receive this recognition from ACPA<\/abbr>,” said UH<\/abbr> Hilo Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Chris Holland<\/strong>. “As we undergo a new divisional strategic plan, DSA<\/abbr> is committed to staying focused on reimagining the student experience and being laser focused on student success.”<\/p>\n

The award focuses on workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment, and uses a web-based survey to examine family friendliness, salary and benefits and professional development opportunities. UH<\/abbr> Hilo previously received the award in 2019 and 2021.<\/p>\n

“DSA<\/abbr> recognizes that our staff are on the front lines of working with students in their developmental journey, and we must be as focused on staff development as well—from making great hires to onboarding to training and development,” said Holland. “I am very proud of the resilience of this team through the pandemic to continue to meet student needs while also staying motivated in our planning efforts. This recognition is reflective of their work, and it is my privilege to work alongside such great people committed to students and their success.”<\/p>\n
