Richardson School of Law<\/a> was again ranked among the &ldquo;Best Law Schools for 2023&rdquo; by the <em>Princeton Review<\/em> on January 31.<\/p>\n<p>The rankings placed <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> law school among the nation\u2019s top 10 law schools in multiple categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><abbr title=\"number\">No.<\/abbr> 2 for &ldquo;Most Diverse Faculty&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><abbr>No.<\/abbr> 4 for &ldquo;Most Chosen By Older Students&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li><abbr>No.<\/abbr> 8 for &ldquo;Best for State and Local Clerkships&rdquo;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The report uses a methodology that factors in <a href=\"https:\/\/law.hawaii.edu\/\">more than 60 data points<\/a>, surveying administrators and students at 168 law schools. Fewer than 45&#37; of those schools appear on one or more lists.<\/p>\n<p>The 2023 list was determined using surveys from administrators taken from 2021 to 2022, and surveys of 17,000 students conducted over three academic years. Topics covered aspects, ranging from career services, graduation rates, and faculty to campus culture and career plans.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> law students commented on the accessibility of faculty and their scholarship and expertise in their respective fields. Professors were regarded as &ldquo;all well-versed in their fields&rdquo; and &ldquo;active practitioners and scholars.&rdquo; A small student body, a welcoming <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> legal community, and robust career support were also emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;With a diverse faculty and student body, the law school fosters a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that sets it apart, making <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> an exceptional place to study law,&rdquo; said Director of Enrollment Management <strong>Cindy Cromwell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Externships and employment were cited as &ldquo;numerous and relatively easy to procure,&rdquo; as surveys affirmed a supportive administration, opportunities for networking, and an education that includes active engagement with the local legal community in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii.\">Â鶹´«Ã½.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Lawyers and judges regularly provide guidance and opportunities [for Richardson] students,&rdquo; noted one student.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trisha Nakamura<\/strong>, interim associate dean of student services, also emphasized the incredible opportunities because of the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> law school\u2019s excellent relationships with the legal community.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our students have great access to unique programming, including attending <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Supreme Court oral arguments held at the law school, visits to the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> State Judiciary, and externships with federal and state judges.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr>UH<\/abbr> law school has previously been recognized nationally for multiple areas, such as its Evening Part-Time Program, Environmental Law Program and International Law.
