With the win, <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> improved to 5-1 for the program&#8217;s best start since the 2015&#8211;16 season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noel Coleman<\/strong> scored a game-high 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting&#8212;15 of which came in the second half. He was named the tournament <abbr title=\"Most Valuable Player\">MVP<\/abbr> after averaging 20.5 points per game.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> came out of the gates strong, and scored seven unanswered points and doubled up Texas State, 22-11, with less than nine minutes in the first half.<\/p>\n<p>The two teams went back and forth throughout much of the second half, but the Rainbow Warriors started to create some separation around the seven-minute mark. With <abbr>UH<\/abbr> up by one, Coleman scored four straight points to stretch the lead to 55-50 with 6:33 left to play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bernardo Da Silva<\/strong> gave <abbr>UH<\/abbr> a seven-point lead with back-to-back buckets, the second of which was a dunk off of a feed from <strong>JoVon McClanahan<\/strong> as the shot clock expired, making the score 59-52 with 5:06 left. The two teams traded buckets the rest of the way, with <strong>Samuta Avea<\/strong> hitting four straight free throws in the final minute to secure the win.<\/p>\n<p>Da Silva joined Coleman on the all-tournament team after finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds to average 15 points per game and six rebounds across the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The Rainbow Warriors shot above 50 percent as a team for the third straight game at 51.1 percent on the night, while committing just nine turnovers including only three in the second half.
