Jicha, a transfer student from <a href=\"http:\/\/hawaii.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Community College<\/a> is a senior at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo double majoring in <a href=\"https:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/depts\/politicalsci\/\">political science<\/a> and administration of justice.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I want to dedicate my education to working in the public sector and serving my local community,&rdquo; Jicha said.<\/p>\n<p>Kariha is a junior at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo majoring in political science with a minor in <a href=\"https:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/depts\/geography\/\">geography<\/a> and a certificate in <a href=\"https:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/catalog\/cert_international-politics\">international politics<\/a>. She grew up in Papua New Guinea.<\/p>\n<p>Kariha decided to take up political science because she is passionate about helping in sustainable development and reconstructing systems to meet the needs of the grassroots, who are often neglected.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What I value most about political science is that it influences so many aspects of life,&rdquo; said Kariha. &ldquo;No matter how many times we try to ignore political science, it is the doorway of understanding how other systems in the world run.
