Greenwood<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai\u02bbi<\/span> and the <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/pvs.kcc.hawaii.edu\/\">Polynesian Voyaging Society<\/a> celebrated <abbr>UH<\/abbr>\u2019s support of <abbr>PVS<\/abbr>\u2019 upcoming Worldwide Voyage at the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Cancer Center on Monday, May 13.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> President <strong>M.R.C. Greenwood<\/strong> said the university is very honored to be the educational partner for the Worldwide Voyage, which will take the <span aria-label=\"Hokulea\">H\u014dk\u016ble\u02bba<\/span> and its crew to 28 countries and 62 ports during its 2013\u201314 voyage of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai\u02bbi<\/span> and its 2014\u201315 voyage of the Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>Master Navigator Nainoa Thompson credited the heroes who laid the groundwork for the Worldwide Voyage, including Eddie Aikau, Mau Piailug, Pinky Thompson and Lacy Veach.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson volunteers as the special advisor to the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai\u02bbi<\/span> president. Greenwood said Thompson has given generously of his time and expertise to the university, and this is a special opportunity for <abbr>UH<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> faculty, staff, students and alumni all over the world are involved in various aspects of this project.
