University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at Hilo women\u2019s volleyball<\/a> player Tani Hoke<\/strong> reached a career milestone of 1,000 digs as the Vulcans challenged PacWest<\/abbr> No.1 ranked Chaminade University on October 9. Hoke collected 8 digs during the game to surpass her 1,000-career mark.<\/p>\n

Though the Vulcans ultimately fell to Chaminade, junior Nikki Logan<\/strong> helped lead the Vulcans in their fight with 11 kills, followed by Samara Cruz<\/strong> with nine. Emerson Reinke<\/strong> tallied 24 assists to total 474 thus far on the season.<\/p>\n

Following the match, Hoke now ranks No. 90 among all active NCAA<\/abbr> Division II<\/abbr> players, as well as No. 15 in digs per set at 4.69. The junior libero also currently sits at No. 2 in the PacWest<\/abbr> with 4.31 digs per set this season and 250 total digs for a No. 6 rank in the conference.<\/p>\n

Hoke is the sixth Vulcan to reach 1,000 digs, joining Mina Grant<\/strong> (1,564), Tanya Fuamatu<\/strong> (1,559), Bria Beale<\/strong> (1,206), Thia Palakiko<\/strong> (1,068) and Laura Rodriguez<\/strong> (1,024).<\/p>\n

This week, the Vulcans will return to the Vulcan Gymnasium for a six-game home stand starting with a match against Holy Names University on October 12.<\/p>\n
