The goal of the project is to provide students with experiential learning opportunities through the development of an alternative revenue stream for <abbr>UH<\/abbr> other than through tuition and state funding. <\/p>\n<p>The proposed project objectives includes a use that partners or collaborates with one or more <abbr>UH<\/abbr> programs listed in the &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/basec.sicomm.net\/UH\/\">Notice to Interested Parties<\/a>&rdquo;:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uhealthy.hawaii.edu\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> UHealthy <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Initiative<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/research.hawaii.edu\/oic\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Office of Innovation and Commercialization<\/a> <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kapiolani.hawaii.edu\/academics\/programs-of-study\/\"><span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr> nursing, health sciences, emergency medical services, culinary arts and hospitality programs<\/a> <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/jabsom.hawaii.edu\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/nursing.hawaii.edu\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Nancy Atmospera-Walch School of Nursing<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/thompson\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Thompson School of Social Work and Public Health <\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pharmacy.uhh.hawaii.edu\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Hilo Daniel K. Inouye School of Pharmacy <\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/coe.hawaii.edu\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa College of Education<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/uh-system-leahi-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"view of empty land space\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-166772\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/uh-system-leahi-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/uh-system-leahi-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/uh-system-leahi.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The project must also fit in the context of the surrounding community, and the developer must have an on-property physical presence and manage the project after it is built. <\/p>\n<p>The deadline for submissions is December 7, 2022, and the selection is scheduled to be announced January 31, 2023. The selected developer will be required to enter into a development agreement and long-term ground lease with <abbr>UH<\/abbr>. Ownership would revert back to <abbr>UH<\/abbr> when the ground lease expires. The agreement and lease must receive final approval from the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/offices\/bor\/\">Board of Regents<\/a> before the project can begin. <\/p>\n<p>The property is located at 550 Makapu&#699;u Avenue across from <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr> and L\u0113&#699;ahi Hospital, on the same block as the recently redeveloped Diamond Head Theatre.
