The plan will guide <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s public higher education, 10-campus system for the next six years and replace <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hawaii.edu\/strategicdirections\/\"><em><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Strategic Directions 2015&#8211;2021<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The draft is available for review and comment on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/offices\/vp-academic-strategy\/uh-strategic-plan-2023-2029\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Â鶹´«Ã½ 2023&#8211;2029<\/a> website until Sunday, October 16 at 6 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to recommend specific actions that can be taken to achieve the objectives of the plan. Titled, &ldquo;<span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s University for Today and Tomorrow,&rdquo; the draft plan identifies four imperatives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successful Students for a Better Future<\/li>\n<li>Meet <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> Workforce Needs of Today and Tomorrow<\/li>\n<li>Embrace Kuleana to Native Hawaiians and <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Diversify <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span>\u2019s Economy through <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Innovation and Research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each imperative in the draft also lists objectives and possible metrics to measure attainment.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;More than a thousand people from within the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> community and the public-at-large have participated in this process so far, which is outstanding,&rdquo; said <abbr>UH<\/abbr> Vice Presdident for Academic Strategy <strong>Debora Halbert<\/strong>. &ldquo;We hope that more people will participate in this critical next phase as we finalize our plan to best serve the state and our students through the end of the decade.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Town Hall meetings<\/h2>\n<p><abbr>UH<\/abbr> will hold four town hall meetings to give the community opportunities to learn more about the strategic plan and share their ideas, insights and concerns.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday, September 26, 1:30\u20133 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday, October 5, 11 a.m.\u201312:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Friday, October 14, 8:30\u201310 a.m.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For students<\/strong> Friday, October 14, 1\u20132:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hawaii.zoom.us\/j\/92001085933\">Join the Zoom meeting<\/a><br \/>\nMeeting ID: 920 0108 5933<br \/>\nPasscode: 035311<\/p>\n<p>While everyone in the <abbr>UH<\/abbr> community is invited to all of the town hall meetings, the October 14 afternoon meeting will focus on student comments.<\/p>\n<p>This latest round of community engagement in the development of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/offices\/vp-academic-strategy\/uh-strategic-plan-2023-2029\/\"><em><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Â鶹´«Ã½ 2023&#8211;2029<\/em><\/a> will be incorporated into the final draft.
