The U.S. Pacific Fleet<\/a> (COMPACFLT<\/abbr>) completed its first summer paid internship program with midshipmen from the University of Â鶹´«Ã½<\/span> at M\u0101noa\u2019s newly established Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps<\/a> (NROTC<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n

The two-month pilot program provided eleven midshipmen the opportunity to join the Pacific Fleet headquarters command as full staff members for the summer and gain broad experience in the naval services\u2019 role in the Indo-Pacific.<\/p>\n

The training included embarking on various naval platforms, including overnight embarks aboard USS<\/abbr> Abraham Lincoln<\/em> and amphibious assault ship USS<\/abbr> Essex<\/em>, and participating in a familiarization program with the U.S.<\/abbr> Marine Corps Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC<\/abbr>) during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC<\/abbr>) 2022. The opportunity gave the midshipmen real-world experience with navies from 26 nations.<\/p>\n
