(Photo courtesy: Hunt Companies)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Students across the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Âé¶¹´«Ã½<\/span> System who are interested in entrepreneurship are invited to apply to live at Residences for Innovative Student Entrepreneurs (<abbr>RISE<\/abbr>), the mixed-use student housing\/innovation center under construction across from the <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa campus.<\/p>\n<p>The first students will move into <abbr>RISE<\/abbr> starting fall 2023. University officials expect significant demand for the 374 beds in the $70 million live-learn-work <abbr>RISE<\/abbr> facility on the site of the former Atherton <abbr title=\"Young Men's Christian Association\">YMCA<\/abbr> at the corner of University Avenue and Metcalf Street.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;<abbr>RISE<\/abbr> will provide <abbr>UH<\/abbr> students with unique opportunities to develop as innovators and entrepreneurs who will help lead the diversification and strengthening of our economy,&rdquo; said <abbr>UH<\/abbr> President <strong>David Lassner<\/strong>. &ldquo;It will also provide a meaningful increase in our student housing inventory that will help relieve pressure on the waiting lists created by enrollment growth at <abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, which looks to prepare for another record-breaking entering freshman class. This extraordinary project is coming together without burdening taxpayers thanks to the leadership and collaboration among our <abbr>P3<\/abbr> partners and the support of private donors who have already given nearly $3.7 million to equip the state-of-the-art facility, provide scholarships and launch <abbr>RISE<\/abbr> programs.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"blocklink\">Read more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/tag\/rise\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> M\u0101noa <abbr>RISE<\/abbr> center.<\/a> <br \/>To apply, visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/rise.hawaii.edu\">RISE website<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><abbr>RISE<\/abbr> is fully funded with private, non-taxpayer money. <abbr>UH<\/abbr>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhfoundation.org\/\"><abbr>UH<\/abbr> Foundation<\/a> and Hunt Companies entered into a public-private partnership (<abbr>P3<\/abbr>) to design, build and finance the facility.
